Handlebars with a 31.8mm, 25.4mm or 22.2mm diameter stem clamping area.

12mm of free handlebar space either side of stem faceplate.

A handlebar bag that has a horizontal ‘MOLLE’ style or other similar style two strap mounting system no wider than 225mm from the outer edges of the mounting straps.

Use with handlebar bags that (when mounted on CLIFF and loaded up to 5kg) have at least 5cm of clearance from the top of the front tyre to the bottom of the bag.

0 degree to +40 degree stem. (Negative angle stems are compatible, if the angle of the stem when fixed to the steerer tube, doesn’t produce a negative angle to the ground level of 180 degrees.

Compatible with both Quill (threaded) and threadless stems, (but not compatible with most integrated bar-stems, aero bars or some other ‘alt-bars’).

Compatible with handlebars of any material - Metal, carbon, wood, etc. No clamping force combined with nylon hardware means only some cosmetic damage may occur to the handlebar due to micro abrasion.

Suitable for both rigid and suspension fork bikes, providing the distance from the bottom of the mounted and loaded bag, is at least 5cm from the top of the front tyre.

* ‘Reliable tyre clearance’ refers to the fact that inevitable changes in handlebar bag shape and droop due to different packing styles and handlebar bag constructions, will affect the amount of tyre clearance a handlebar bag has, during a bikepacking trip, or over the life and use of the bag, and that CLIFF helps reduce these changes, and holds the bag further from the tyre in almost all cases.

** The mounting system designed for CLIFF (which is an evolution of that from JACK the bike rack) fits all standard handlebar sizes and shapes, but does not fit all ‘alt.’ style, or ‘aero’ style handlebars. ‘Universal’ refers to the fact that it will fit the majority of road and mountain bike handlebars that use a stem, and 31.8mm, 25.4mm and 22.2mm round handlebars.
